When I first made this, I tried out something to basically “cheat” on adding an outline to the hair (specifically the pigtails and the little bangs). I thought it looked fine once I was done, but now that’s it out of my queue to be posted… yeah, I don’t like how it looks anymore. Lesson learned!

Anyways, a witch and her gummy worm dragons. They are her familiars! She was originally for a verrry old idea of a witch going to a magic school, to learn magic and potentially become a hero through all of it. I don’t quite remember the specifics of how/why, I think something about a “prophecy” that was actually interpreted incorrectly (not revealed until maybe halfway through the story). And maybe her having a relative or two who were great witches/heroes/etc. so she’s got that pressure on her too.

But either way, she’s basically dealing with a lot of anxiety over not meeting other people’s expectations. Or, she thinks she might end up not being able to save people like she thinks she’s meant to be, and fears she might make a grave situation worse by mistake.

In the end, she would come to accept that, hey, not everyone is cut out to be a hero, or even a person of great renown throughout the land for one thing or another. And that’s okay! Just because you don’t end up achieving the “greatness” that other people are expecting or wanting of you, doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to be happy and thriving in your own way.

Also a heartfelt conversation with her parents to sort things out, and the story ends with her leaving the magic school to study something else. I think in the initial draft I had her become an apprentice baker and managing to open her own bakery once she’s an adult, but I dunno if I would keep that.

Heck, I’m not entirely sure if I’d ever get back to this and flesh out the story more. But I still think it’s a neat idea with some good potential! :>
