Maddy: "What's with the face?"

Match: "... My familiar isn't... exactly what I wanted it to be..."

Maddy: "Hey, it's okay! Maven Miyu said that familiars are connected to our souls, and they're pretty much always going to change at least once while growing up. Some can even shapeshift until they settle on one form!"

Match: "..."

Maddy: "Cheer up! Just give it some time, you'll probably end up with a fiendishly cool familiar once you're older!"

Match: "... I frickin' hope so."

Yeah, this is less ~Harry Potter Patronus~ and more like the Daemons from His Dark Materials. Honestly I think I like the Daemons a lot better, at least you can have a conversation with them. Then again, Patronuses (Patroni??) aren't really as close to the traditional ideas of familiars, though I've seen some people argue that they should. Ehhh, I don't think they should count imo, meanwhile Daemons are a lot closer to the idea of a 'proper' familiar. :P

Anyways, yep, familiars! Seems to always be a staple in most magic settings. At first I thought I would make Maddy and Match's familiars be basically animal equivalents to their Navis. But then I figured I'd just go with non-related familiars. Also I didn't want them to be all like, glowy/spirit-power and stuff, so I just used one of my pattern brushes to make them stand out, lol

Edit: Almost forgot! One last time, the books and bottles shown here were using a bookstore brush set made by ileydoesthings! Her store includes both a Procreate version and a Clip Studio Paint version of these brushes, so if you have either of those, feel free to buy and try them out! Note that the bottles I used here were part of an older brushset from her shop, but she's apparently planning to do a new witch-themed brushset with those bottles and probably some new brushes too! I'm definitely looking forward to that. :D
