Match: "Eugh, this plant looks like it was to eat me."

Maddy: "I'm pretty sure it could eat you. Maven Sal said a lot of these plants are pretty dangerous, not just if you eat them or cook them improperly."

Match: "And they just leave this stuff out in the open and let us walk around the greenhouse freely?!"

Maddy: "High Maven Wily says being close to danger like this helps build character. And makes us appreciate life. Or, something like that..."

Match: "... Let's just get out of here."

Thank god I had most of this year's Drawtober drawing done before the hurricane. Just have to fix a few details on the last too and then I can relax a bit while waiting for the Robot Rumpus stuff to start. Miiiight also try to get a headstart on stuff for next year, at least with trying to proofread the last chunk of chapters of my Maddy & Match story, but we'll see.

So yeah! Decided to do something similar with what I did last year for Drawtober, having an interconnected story for the prompts. This year is all witch-themed, so uh, magic school I guess? Yes yes, Harry Potter or whatever, there's been a bunch of stories before and after that series that have done the whole magic school thing. I'm not gonna claim one specific one as an influence in this. :P

Originally this was going to feature Lan and Maylu, but then I switched them for younger versions of Maddy and Match instead, because why not. Also hey, back to doing lighting! Hope you all look forward to the rest of these. :D

Bonus detail: Using "Maven" instead of something like "Professor" or other honorifics, since refering to the instructors as like teachers or professors just feels... awkward, for some reason? So I'm using maven instead, which is basically just a gender neutral way of describing a person who's really knowledgeable about something. Also it sounds fancier than just "professor" or Mr/Ms, at least to me. And of course "High Maven" is like a step above that! Like a principal or something, lol.
